About this book

Pixinguinha and Benedicto Lacerda recordings in the 40's and 50's represent a milestone in the history of Brazilian music. The phonographic records were left on RCA discs and live recordings on the weekly radio show hosted by radio broadcaster Almirante (Henrique Foreis Domingues - 1908/1980) “O Pessoas da Velha Guarda,” with musical direction by Pixinguinha, which aired between 1947 and 1952.

This work focuses on the full transcription of the counterpoints performed by Pixinguinha on tenor sax: not only is the first part of each choro transcribed, but also all the repetitions of each part, revealing the creativity and genius of Pixinguinha.

Ideal for those who want to delve into the art of counterpoint and improvisation, or just have fun with the backing tracks of this book, each song in this work has:
– Solo and 7-string guitar scores in C, B♭ and E♭.
– Counterpoint score in C, B♭ and E♭ with full transcription of Pixinguinha's sax.
– Full audio with choro ensemble, solo and counterpoint.
– Separate backing tracks covering each option: choro ensemble without flute and without sax, choro ensemble with flute and without sax, choro ensemble without flute and with sax.

All the audios of this work count on the fantastic performance of Nailor Proveta on tenor sax.

Good practice and have fun!
